Reflections From an Opaque Surface
Part I from Surfaces Trilogy
These walls that surround me are wider than hell,
They're as high as a mountain, as deep as a well,
They're as thick as the sinews of Satan's own soul,
With a power more evil than demons behold.
They're as solid as stone — as resistant as steel
Oh, the mortar's great walls have a permanent seal.
No ladders lead over; no tunnels go down.
No, nothing gets up them, nor down through the ground.
There is but one locked door in the center, I see.
To escape all I need is God's almighty key.
